Course Rules & Regulations

Cart Path Only
Some of our members have abused the cart path rule, which is in effect whenever the course is too wet to drive the cart anywhere other than on the cart path. The following policy is in effect when cart-path-only rules are broken.
  • 1st offense: warning
  • 2nd offense: will not be able to rent a cart for one month on cart path-only days.
  • 3rd offense: suspension from club for one month.
Most of our members do obey the rules. It is only a few who frequently disregard the rule. We value your membership and hope this will help to eliminate the problem.

Course Maintenance
Please repair your ball marks on all greens. A ball mark repaired within ten minutes will heal overnight. A ball mark left on the green even one hour will take three weeks to heal. Please use sand to fill your divots in fairways and on tee boxes.

Golf Course Rules for Children
  • Less than 6 years old should not be on the course. 
  • Children 6 to 13 years old must play with an adult.
  • Children under 16 should not drive carts. As with any motor vehicle, they should possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Parents should check with the Pro Shop on appropriate times to bring children on the course.
Just a reminder: golf carts are motorized vehicles and should not be driven by children under 16. We rent the cart to adults who are liable and responsible for proper operation of the cart. We have had instances where children have driven the carts and come close to injuring themselves, others or property. Please ensure that your children observe this rule.

Golf Hazards on the Course
Always be alert to potential hazards on the course. In addition to natural hazards (snakes, lakes, creeks, poison oak, etc.), please be aware of other golfers and their locations prior to hitting your shots. While accidents do happen (errant golf shots, shanks, etc.), there are some places on Dogwood where you should take extra care. These areas include, but are not limited to:

#2 Tee box - Since it is a blind tee shot with a severe dogleg to the right, you should be certain that golfers have sufficiently cleared the fairway. In addition, if you are a long ball hitter and don't quite cut the ball around the corner, you could land in the #9 fairway. You should be aware and take proper precautions to prevent hitting into anyone there as well.

#8 Tee box - Trying to drive the green is a blind shot that carries over #3 tee box and possibly the #2 green (if not hit accurately). Due to this hazard and possible danger to other golfers, we will be making the boundary out of bounds ( OB ). This should discourage (to some degree) those trying to "cut the corner." If that doesn't work, then we will reconsider the aerial OB rule we had before the net was erected.

#13 Tee box - Partially blind tee shot where you need to ensure people have cleared the landing area.

#15 Tee box - Blind tee shot where you need to ensure that golfers in front have cleared the landing area.

#18 Fairway - Blind shot to green. Ensure that people have cleared the green prior to hitting. If you are finishing up on #18 green, move away from the green as soon as possible after replacing the flag. Pull up to the parking lot before marking scorecards or any other activities.

The golden rule: Always be aware of where you are on the golf course and where others are in relation to you. Suggestions to Eliminate Slow Play Play ready golf - hit when ready.
  • Always watch your ball.
  • If in doubt, carry two or three clubs to each shot.
  • Clear tee and green as soon as you finish.
  • Mark scores on the next tee.
  • Keep up with the group in front of you.
  • Carry an extra ball.
  • Don’t spend over four minutes looking for a lost ball.
Protect Your Golf Clubs
A few of our members have experienced the theft of their golf clubs this past year. Dogwood does not assume any liability for lost or stolen articles on our premises. It is the responsibility of each individual to insure his or her own articles. If you suffer a financial loss, your clubs are normally covered by your homeowner's policy. Here are a few tips to help you protect your property: 

If playing in a group, when making the turn, always have one person stay with everyone's possessions while the others get the refreshments. 

If it is not practical to do this, pull your cart around to the back of the building (versus the side or front) making it harder for a drive-by thief to throw your clubs in a car. 

If you are done playing, or anticipate a delay before starting again, store your possessions in a secure place (i.e., trunk of your car).
